Instant...but neccessary?
When it comes to technology in our society people are always wanting faster and "cooler" ways to complete tasks. Here are two articles about how two commonly used internet tools have moved forward in ways most of us had never even considered. What do you think of these new changes? If you could improve or change one thing about both of these applications what would it be? What do you think about how fast tecnhology in general changes? Is being able to do "instant" searches something you think is valuable?

Im not quite sure what to think of these big changes, as long as the information comes up, right and in enough time I could care less if I spent an extra two seconds typing. I dont know what I would do to improve these sites, other than filter out the information that is meaningless to your search. I think I have been on Google lately and to be honest, I dont recall a change that was forever life changing.
ReplyDeleteI think the new change to google is a good one, i mean yes it slows time down. but that doesn't mean that people are getting lazy about it. If they got rid of it i don't think people would be that upset.. i mean come on its only a couple of seconds. Im not sure if i would change anything in that, it seems to be a good idea and not that big of a deal. I think technology is something that will never stop changing, it changees every second in some way.
ReplyDeleteand my second link isn't working...weird..
I like these changes, it makes searching faster and allows for less mistakes to be made when searching(spelling etc). I like the google predictive search, so I wouldn't change anything about it. It's amazing how fast technology changes. Just when you're getting used to a certain aspect, it completely changes. Being able to instantly search a topic is handy. It gives everyone (with a smartphone, tablet or computer) access to a wealth of knowledge that before was only available in a library.
ReplyDeleteThese new changes are very interesting because honestly i really didn't even notice the changes to Google search until now. I just use it and the change really didn't surprise me is what I'm saying i guess because Google has always been such a fast search engine. i don't think i would change anything about these because it is already up to my standards i mean what else is there they give you suggestions and then you can see what has been searched and they match what you like to look at so how can you get much better, its like it know what your thinking. I really don't like how quick technology changes because you buy one thing and the next week a new more high-tech version is out and you are a step behind but you cant go buy another one unless you have a lot of money. i think instant searches are "ok" i like them but sometimes looking up exactly what you need is necessary. I think technology is good but I'm not a high-tech person so i don't get all excited about the new things in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe new changes are good I think, because usually when I search something I cant describe in 2 words what Im looking for so Google will give suggestions. If I could improve one thing, I would say dont have so many unrelated results show up..that part is annoying. Fast technology is good I like getting information and where I want to go faster.. but it will also make most people not have any patience for anything, which is also a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteInstantaneous seach is one of those things that we could easily live without, but with its integration comes our habitual use of it. I think the biggest change that the instantaneous movement has presented is the spread of breaking news via Twitter/Facebook. Everybody knows whats happening hours before they would have found out about it during the evening news or the next mornings papers. Of course, there's at the credibility factor. News through Twitter can be like gossip thats cycled through thousands of different people - things get mistranslated, and even if they weren't, there's no real story within those 160 characters.
ReplyDeleteI do find the instantaneous feature helpful in that is suggests what I think I'm looking for if I'm in a gray area or have only a vague idea of what needs to be found, but I don't buy into the idea that it will predict what I want to search before I search.
People are going to think it accurately selects what they're thinking about searching regardless - its like when people tell you "If I tell you don't think of elephants" the first thing you think of is elephants. If Google tells you that it thinks you want to search for elephants you're going to tell yourself, "Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking, ugh elephants. So hot right now."
I love these changes, they make getting information so much easier and faster. I'm not smart enough to think of anything to improve them they seem to work just fine to me. I love that technology is advancing so fast, it kind of sucks when you are buying a tv or computer since next year they will be incompatible with the new ones. But society demands that technology keeps advancing, it has to keep up with the demands and make things more and more efficient. If we didn't have the new technology we wouldn't have found the cure to certain diseases. Many jobs are also technology based. With technology being used in so many places and so many people using it, there are so many different minds and ideas that go into new technological ideas. I love the instant searches, they make my life so much easier. I love that if I search something that others search a lot it gives me suggestions.
ReplyDeleteThe faster things are like google that faster I can get my homework done. Which is pretty sweet! Time is money so saving me a couple minures or seconds here and there is nice. I dont know that there is anything I would change... i am not that bright. Anyways hockey game tonight at the Agri! SEEE YOUUU THERE!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the changes to Google are good, but I feel like they are not really need because it does not take that long in the first place to search information. I think it handy being able to find information faster but at the same time its not like its saving that much time compared to before. I think it is crazy how technology has pretty much taken over everything.
ReplyDeleteI think these new changes are helpful. When searching for somethings its nice to see the choices poping up right away, especially when your not to sure what your looking for. I cannot think of much change for these new application, just elimate some spam that comes with it. Technology is changing faster and more things that you seen in a futuristic movie are becoming apart of our everyday lives. I do think all this change has its good side. Having these instant searches is not really a big deal for me, just to have what I searched for a few seconds earlier. But, it does give them an advantage over other search sites.
ReplyDeleteI think instant search is kind of nice. I don't know if it is needed or not.
ReplyDeleteI think there should be a way to turn off instant search if you don't like it. Actually i'm sure there is that feature. If so I wouldn't change anything.
As for the other link. Page cannot be found. Invalid Link. So I guess If their was one thing I would change about it. Would have to be the link itself. :Up
As of right now being so intrigued by technology I am excited to see all the new things that they are coming out with! It seems sometime that your to busy to keep up with some of the new tech that is coming out though which is a bummer.
I believe instant search is a great tool! When you run into a problem and need a quick fix you complete a quick search to find that answer your looking for. Almost all of the time your not going to be the first person who has had this problem so normally you can find these problems with someone explaining the fix for it!
I think that this change is helpful and for the better, but I don't know how they are going to make it better. If they start searching before you even need to search something I think a lot of useless material will just be in the way. I think because of the instant searching on google society is getting to be more impatient with each other because the computer is so fast. That could be bad. Sometimes I like how fast technology is changing but it is getting harder for me to keep up!
ReplyDeleteI love these new changes, it makes searching quicker and makes for less mistakes to be created when searching all the things you need. I love the yahoo predictive search engine, so I would never modify anything about it. It's incredible how quick technology changes. As soon as you're getting used to a certain things, it totally changes. The ability to instantly search a topic is vewry useful. It allows everyone with a smart phone, computer and tablet to have access to a large bank of information that earlier was only available in a library setting.
ReplyDeleteI like the changes because it makes searching faster and corrects your mistakes that you type when searching. I didnt even notice the changes really. I wouldnt change anything about these changes because it makes things so much faster, especially when your in a hurry. Techonology changes so fast, once your up-to-date with something new, something else comes uot, which i do not like. I love technology, I the type of person who loves keeping up with it, and learining how the new technology works. The do like the instant search, but it would be easier to search for exactly what you are looking for sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI love the new it because it makes it easier and faster to search my favorite things on the Internet, instead of going to the library settings.I love yahoo search predictive search because it corrects your errors, so I will not change anything about it, and there's something new everytime, that what's makes it so beneficial to the society and it's iPhone, iPad and laptop users
ReplyDeleteI think the new is great because it makes searching faster. Search engines are already very speedy to begin with, but the way it will correct your spelling errors is always a nice feature. I love Bing, it's not necessarily any faster or easier to use than Google but I just love the backgrounds they use. The pictures are always so different and awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't really know what to think. Technology changes every minute of everyday trying to improve things. The instant search for google will probably come in handy, but at the same time I don't really think it's a 100% necessary. The only thing I would probably change is the unnecessary advertisement or unwanted searches. Otherwise I think that things are very efficient the way they are!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say if it is good or bad. Technology is moving so fast and upgrading to better and faster ways that one moment you think it is the best way possible, then bam! newer and faster way. Just like that commercial with the dad and the girl. He gets a 3-D tv and then a delivery truck drives by with 4-D tv. I use google search all the time. i don't like bing and how it is set up. I would get rid of all the stupid ads and fake advertisements.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I did't even notice the change. I think I searched for something and realized the drop down list and thought "cool," but never gave it much thought. I think it is very useful because sometimes I don't know what I want to search or how to word it. I think faster searching is useful and doesn't harm anything. I don't think i would change anything about the search aids at this point in time. The dropdown list of possible search items is good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteThe second website could not be found but I think that it is crazy that Google starts predicting what we want to search as soon as we start typing. They did all that work just to save us a few seconds of our time and the muscle in our pinky to push enter? That seems like a little too much effort for such a small thing. That's nice that they want to help everyone out but really they are helping us be more lazy. Technology is changing very fast and while some of the new things are really nice other things are just a waste of time for those who have to create it. To some people the instant search may be valuable just because they think they have to be in a hurry all the time and every second they have to wait is a waste of their time. But truthfully everyone needs to slow down and enjoy life instead of wanting everything to go so fast.

ReplyDeleteI think the changes in google are the most beneficial. I use google a lot, though I did not think that it was slow before. It is crazy how fast technology has gotten. I feel like moving technology up is good but it is also not needed.
I guess I don't really have a problem with "instant" searches. Even predictive searches could be fun and useful. Although it does take the challenge away from searching the information out yourself and it also devalues the truth.
ReplyDeleteFaster technology only means consumers are interested in buying because the media can create dissatisfaction with their current products that are neither broken or outdated. It means our economy is changing negatively. There is no necessity anymore, only convenience. Therefore, convenience becomes necessity.
I think these changes are not necessarily beneficial. Technology is making people more and more lazy with each new production. It is pretty bad if one can't wait two to three seconds to see their search results. Although they may be unnecessary, I think that they are somewhat interesting in that it will try to predict what you are searching. The rate at which technology is changing amazes me. I always wonder what it will be like 20 years from now.
ReplyDeleteI think both of these new changes are cool but not exactly necessary. Two extra seconds is not a lot of time at all but they are kinda neat features to have! I think instant searches are a great quality to have one two of the most used websites but if there was one thing I could change it would be to have a button on the youtube search saying you are interested in extended searches and a button that says you aren't. That way if you are looking for something specific you are not bothered by incoming information that you are not interested in. Technology is advancing so quickly and rapid changes are happening everyday. The way I look at it is enjoy it while its here because next month something else will be "cooler" and "better".
ReplyDeleteWhen they change technology all the time I find it hard to notice these changes. I think that google is advancing and the people who maintain the website always find the most effective ways of getting things done. The people behind google have such a large and well educated team that if they change the website it is for the better.
ReplyDeleteI think these changes are great. It's always good to be able to find information quickly and efficiently. However, on the other hand I don't think these technological advances are exactly necessary. 2 to 3 seconds of saved time isn't going to really change anything.
ReplyDeleteI feel that it's nice to have the faster things are like Google that faster. I can get my homework done so much faster then if i would use a different sit. Which i think is pretty sweet! my mom all ways tells me "Time is money" so saving me a couple minutes or seconds here and there is nice to have. I dont know there is anything I would change about it. I am not that bright but i try every day to do what i have to do.

I think some of these changes are pretty cool, however if you are living in a place where the internet isn't always at it's fastest, sometimes the Google instant is a pain. I think it is pretty cool to have the instant search, because of how fast it is, but I was content with the way Google was before as well.
