I think that our presentation was my favorite. I also did really enjoy the one on concept designs seeing the different ideas that might someday be real is interesting.
I really annoy this class discussing current happenings is technology and hearing interesting opinions about subjects.
My favorite presentation was the one about the futuristic designs they were really cool to look at because that could be what we are using in the future. I think it is cool that inventors are already coming up with cool ideas and now they can try to achieve the ideas and create a better tomorrow. The first cell phone was called the Brick, and someone is inventing a "smart fridge" that is going to be able to tell you what you need.
I have learned a lot about what is going on in the world because of this class like when Steve Jobs died i honestly wouldnt have know what he was about until this class and that was cool to know this class helped me learn about a man that changed the technology world.
I thought the new phones that are supposedly coming out soon, was pretty cool. I thought that the new ways that phones will be out are simple and will be easy to use. I think that they will be breakable though.
I have learned some things from this class. Just on the topics that we had to talk about I was surprised on what I have not heard or thought of.
My favorite one was the one about the future concepts. It was really interesting and I love that kind of stuff. I learned about Martin Cooper, the creator of the original cellphone. Cellphones evolve so fast that we never really notice how fast until we look back and review them all. I like this class because it makes me more aware of things that I hadn't really thought of before or how they affect me. This class is a fun type of learning.
I enjoyed the presentation on future concepts and technology. There were definietly some interesting ideas! I loved the idea of the fridge that can tell when food is going to expire, that would force me to cook a lot more in my household! There were a lot of interesting ideas from the presentations. I have really enjoyed this class and feel like I have learned a lot from it. There were things about technology we discussed that I never even knew existed or were of importance in our society. I definietly will take a lot away from this class.
I liked the presentation today about future technologies. It's interesting to see what ideas companies have come up with. It all seems to aim at simplifying our lives. I think it would be pretty neat to have a "smart" refridgerator! This class has made me realize just how much technology I rely on and use on a daily basis. I think we tend to take for granted all that is available to us.
The presentation that was my favorite was the one about the tablets. Im soo obsessed with tablets right now, and in the process of getting one, so it really opened my eyes to narrow down my choice. Two interesting things i learned from the presentation were; 1. theres a specific tablet for just reading. 2. google is trying to make tablets.
Two things that i have learned from this class in general is how hackers are running wild; they've tried to hack Fox for having a "opinion." Another thing that i have learned from this class is keeping up with the latest news, besides drama! I've never been the type of person to read about the subjects that are given to me in this class, but it keeps me updated on things i didnt know, and there in fact interesting.
I really enjoyed all of the presentations that dealt with future concepts and design. Looking back on all of our old cell phones made me realize how far into the future we are in relation to even the year 2007. Technology moves forward so fast and I can't wait to see whats on deck. I learned that there was such a thing as a gramophone record and that the original cell phone cost nearly $3000. I never really took the time to think how expensive that piece of technology must have been at the time.
I really have been learning things in this class - for example when we looked up articles on hackers and viruses, I thought that I had a decent understanding of the topic, but the more I read I realized that my basic understanding barley scratched the surface. Its nice to read further into how technology really penetrates every aspect of our lives.
I didnt see all of the presentations, but my favorite one was Futuristic Concepts of Technology. It was really interesting, and the future fridge, kitchen, and the cell phone with 3 different layers were really cool and I have never heard of any of those ideas until today. My favorite one was definintely the future fridge. From this class I actually did learn alot because Ive never really cared about technology or cared to learn about it....for example before this class I had no idea what an iPad was and no idea who Steve Jobs was. So I now know alot more about current technology.
I liked the futuristic concepts one that included many different types of technological advancements. The retractable kitchen was cool and reminds me of the movies. The touch screen thing that mounts on your shoulder was weird and I am sure very expensive along with everything else. The bendable phones would be nice because I drop mine a lot so maybe they wouldn't break as easily. I think that the inventions are cool but I think that a lot of problems could occur in the first models.
I like the class and learned a lot about technology especially about hacking and the new apps that are out there.
I enjoyed listening to the presentation on Ereaders and Iapds or tablets and their evolution. This was my favorite because of how they started talking about books and how the evolution of writing and selling books has changed. Also how they went back to books and talked about how there is a connection with actaully reading the books is with the feel and smell of the pages. I think this is true the new notebooks are very convienent but I prefer a book.
I do enjoy this class and learning about new forms of technology. I am not super tech savy. I do know a lot of basic things but not nearly the more advanced stuff we cover in class.
My favorite presentation was the futuristic technologies, in my opinion it was fascinating to know what new technology there is to come in the future and can't wait to give some of them a try.I learned a whole lot in this class about technology, current affairs like the passing of Steve Jobs and new and upcoming stuff great interaction in the class with the teacher and students enjoying it fully and the original cell phone that cost $3500 is very surprising.
The presentation I liked was the couple intros that were done on cell phones. I thought it was quite interesting because it is unbelievable how far cell phones have come since it was first introduced. Since having the big bulky brick into a small size just proves technology is advancing much faster than we realize. I think it was pretty interesting that for the first cell phone it costed more than three thousand dollars.
Taking this class I have been more aware of technology than I was before. I have learned things that I never knew, and found it to be quite interesting.
I found the development of cellphones very interesting. I think it is crazy how now days may people wouldn't be able to survive without a cellphone, but I can remember back to when my family used a bag phone. I found it interesting the plans that they have coming up for future phones. Its crazy how technology is like taking over the world. The one phone that I thought was interesting was the one that could bend pretty much any direction. I feel this phone would be easy to break and wouldn't work half of the time. I have learned a lot about technology since I have been in this class. Because before I really never took the time to look at new device coming out or the features that came with items we already have.
Ok so the beer presentation was probably my favorite. I enjoyed this presentation because it was up beat and entertaining! I like presentations that keep the conversation light and the guys did a really good job with it I thought.
My favorite presentation was the beer presentation because it was funny, and interesting, the pictures that were funny added to it as well. From this class I have learned things that I didnt know before and the things we study sometimes dont interest me but youre not going to like everything in life, the only thing i dont like about this class is that we have to sit here until everyone is done with their blog and discuss it.
i thought that the portable music devices presentation was pretty sick. I like how it showed all of the past and present music players, that was very touching. I also enjoyed how there was a lot of text for my eyes to read.
I thought this class was super sick because i learned lots of technology things. I also like this class because i get to say all the shit i want to say.
My favorite presentation was the one on technology in 2020. I liked this because it is amazing to hear all the new things that may be happening then. My favorite new invention that they are working on creating is the car that will drive itself. The craziest invention that was on the slide show was the robots that will be on the moon. In this class I enjoy the random articles that we get to read. Without this class I would have never read them on my own time. Getting to read these and then write our own opinion on them helps to see what other people really do think of different things that are going on in our society technology wise.
Katie King said... I liked the television one the best because the two boys who did the presentation made it interesting. They both knew what they were talking about and were funny at the same time.
I did learn from this class. I never knew the history behind all the technology before this class and would never have looked it up. I feel like sometimes we could have just stayed back in our rooms to blog, but the whole purpose of the class was to blog and talk about what you wrote.
My favorite presentation was the one about the future. I didn't know any of things that they said in the powerpoint. Their powerpoint was very interesting I thought. I learned from the powerpoints that there will hopefully be new inventions coming in the future like a self control car. How cool is that! Or one of them said that there will be phones that can translate for you in a different language.
I actually think that this class is helping me in the technology world. I learn something new everyday in this class.
My favorite presentation was shayla's. It was about the evolution of portable music devices. I think she did a really swell job of giving a very in-depth analysis of where the music industry has gone. Through these presentations I learned that there will soon be robots on the moon and that soon we will be able to use our minds to send text messages.
I really enjoyed this class. I learned a great deal about technology that I otherwise would have never known.
I really enjoyed the presentation on the different types of technology coming out in 2020. I thought the train hooking up the east and west and the smartphone hooking up to your brain are awesome ideas that I hope I get to see and experience.
I like the style of this class, with the blogging and more laid back environment but honestly I want to learn more about different technologies. Its a lot of smartphones and facebook in this class and just basic computer technology. Computer technology is being put in to many other things and I think it would be really interesting to learn about some of those.
I enjoyed the presentation on the possible technology of 2020. It is fun to think about what the future may hold for us! Think of how amazing it would be to hook your brain up to your smartphone. Like, texting someone using your brain while you walk around. Telepathy, anyone?!?!
As far as this course goes: I like the style, I just need more in-depth topics. To give a more concrete idea of my discontent, I happen to have the course syllabus! Under "General Education Outcomes" we haven't used math (to my knowledge), analytical thinking, analogical thinking, critical thinking, OR problem solving. In fact, we haven't even discussed what they are. I feel that we are falling FAR short of these experiences. I also believe this is due to the choice of topics we cover and this goes hand-in-hand with "Course Objectives". "The purpose of this course is to provide students with discussion and guidelines on social, legal, and ethical issues in computers in order to succeed in their personal and professional lives. This course offers the opportunity to provide students with greater appreciation for and understanding of computers." Well, we talk a lot about computers. But we rarely discuss actual social implications. We NEVER discuss legal ramifications. And quite frankly, I don't believe ethical issues of technology use has ever even been brought up!
Alissa, I would suggest a subscription to WIRED magazine to supplement this class. =) Check it out!
My favorite presentation was the one on future technology that could be coming out by 2020. I found it very interesting on how the designs and inventions could be used in the near future. It is also amazing about how much technology is growing and becoming more innovative in the world.
Two things I learned from the presentation was the different type of televisions that have been developed and the history of beer.
I think that this class is good for discussing current events that are going on today. It is great to come and know that we can come to this class and blog on a computer instead of writing a report on a piece of paper. It is something different that link technology and blogging. Maybe in the future, you could incorporate different types of blogs and learn about other types of blogging.
My favorite was probly the different ways the cell phone have been created and what they will be in later years. They are thinking of some very interesting ways to make cell phones. If it actually does happen then that will be very cool.
I like this class because you get to learn about the new technologies each day, everyday there is something new coming out to top the thing from the day before and to me that is fun to learn about.
My favorite presentation was the one about ebooks. I have heard some about them but their comparision to the real books was very interesting. Two things I learned was that music presentation, I have never actually seena n atrak player or those old graphaphones they showed.
My favorite presentation was the new and upcoming technological devices for 2020. I found it interesting about all the new things that are in store for society. Two interesting things I learned from the presentations was that beer was the first alcoholic beverage to be made and that walkmans were invented by a guy so that he could listen to opera on his train rides.
I think that this class is helpful in that it gives students a better insight on current technology and what we can expect from the future. I definitely learned more about hacking and what the future of technology will look like. I think the fact that this class is more relaxed than others is great because it gives students a time to not have to worry about other stresses, as well as providing useful information.
I was not there for the presentations however I do think ours was pretty cool ;) I learned who invented the discman and the walkman, along with other interesting information about the two, like how big the first discman was! Another thing that I learned from my project is how much money apple brings in from their i pods and i phones each year which was a couple billion dollars, just crazy!
Soooooo I know I'm super late, But I liked Shayla's presentation about the portable music devices. I'm really a music lover, so I definitely was interested in that one. I learned about the different types of televisions that have come out. I also learned about how beer was made. So it was pretty awesome. :)
I liked the presentation on portable music players the most because i listen to music for a large amount of everyday. I learned about the new bendable smart phones that may come out and about the advancements in the Television.
2 things I learned: -The stretchy phone looks unreal -Beer is neat! I am going to be completely bias and say the teton hockey boys put on a hell of a presentation. Mainly Dwight! Good work fellers, well played!
I think that our presentation was my favorite.
